Increase exit and consolidation churn

EIP-8061은 이더리움 비콘 체인의 검증자 종료 및 통합 처리량을 제한하는 처른(churn) 한도를 증가시키는 코어 Draft 제안입니다. 현재 처른 한도가 너무 낮아 대규모 종료 또는 통합 시 병목이 발생하는 문제를 해결합니다.

Churn Limit Background

The Ethereum beacon chain enforces a churn limit that controls how many validators can exit or consolidate per epoch. This limit exists to prevent rapid destabilization of the validator set. However, as the validator count has grown significantly, the current churn limit has become a bottleneck for large-scale exits and consolidations.

Proposed Increase

EIP-8061 proposes increasing the maximum churn limit to allow more validators to exit or consolidate per epoch. The exact new limit is a parameter under discussion, with the goal of reducing wait times for legitimate exit operations without compromising network stability. A higher churn limit also benefits staking pool operators who need to rebalance large validator sets.

Impact on Validator Lifecycle

A higher churn limit would reduce the queue time for validators waiting to exit or consolidate, improving the responsiveness of staking operations. This is particularly important for institutional stakers and liquid staking protocols that manage large numbers of validators. Faster exits also improve capital efficiency for stakers who wish to withdraw.

Draft Status

As a Draft, EIP-8061 is under review for its impact on beacon chain security and stability. The tradeoff between higher throughput and the potential for rapid validator set changes needs careful analysis. It is being evaluated alongside EIP-8062 and EIP-8071 as part of a broader validator lifecycle improvement effort.
