Original Proposal
EIP-7897 aimed to define a registry and discovery mechanism for services that smart accounts could attach to, such as session key managers, recovery modules, and spending limit enforcers.
Motivation
Smart account ecosystems lack a standardized way to advertise and discover compatible services. A linked-service registry would allow wallets to present users with a curated list of modules they can install.
Why It Was Withdrawn
The authors determined that the proposal duplicated functionality being developed in other ERC-4337 and smart-account modular standards. Rather than compete, they chose to withdraw and contribute to the consolidated effort.
Legacy
The concepts introduced in EIP-7897 influenced subsequent modular smart account standards. Developers interested in wallet-linked services should look to the ERC-6900 and related proposals for current guidance.
