Proposal
wallet_sendCalls is a JSON-RPC method for batched transaction submission. EIP-7896 proposed adding an optional abi field so wallets can decode calldata and present human-readable summaries to users before signing.
Motivation
Blind signing — approving transactions without understanding their content — is a major security risk. ABI attachment would allow wallets to simulate and explain calls without requiring out-of-band ABI lookups.
Why It Stalled
The proposal overlaps with other wallet transparency initiatives, and there was disagreement about where ABI information should live — in the RPC call, in a registry, or fetched from block explorers. Lack of consensus led to Stagnant status.
Historical Context
The EIP was part of a wave of wallet UX improvements proposed alongside ERC-4337. Ongoing work in the wallet standards space may eventually absorb or supersede this proposal.
