Context
ERC-7540 introduced asynchronous deposit and redemption flows for tokenized vaults. However, the base standard does not specify how a user can cancel a pending request before it is fulfilled.
Proposed Extension
EIP-7887 adds cancelDeposit and cancelRedeem functions with corresponding events. Vault operators must implement these or explicitly mark themselves as non-cancellable to signal intent to users.
User Protection
Without a cancellation mechanism, users are locked in until the vault operator fulfills their request. Adding standardized cancellation improves liquidity and reduces counterparty risk for vault depositors.
Status
The proposal is in Draft and is expected to be adopted alongside or as an amendment to ERC-7540 once the interface is finalized.
